Energy

Sharp fluctuations of energy prices are no longer a rarity. For medium-sized enterprises in the plastic packaging industry, topics such as oil, water, sewer and electricity prices have a particular meaning. The IK is therefore implementing together with leading energy agencies benchmarks to these parameters and supports members in taking advantage of market-specific KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau – Reconstruction Loan Corp.) aid programmes.

The responsible use of our resources is becoming more and more important today. The IK is therefore also promoting higher energy efficiency in the plastics processing industry. Along with other plastics associations from all over Europe, the IK participates in the European-wide energy-saving project EuPlastVoltage, promoted by the European Commission. The goal is the self-commitment of the European plastics processing industry to savings of 20 percent of today’s energy consumption by the year 2020.

Within the framework of the project, the participating enterprises will receive access to a catalogue of cost-efficient measures to save energy. In the planning stage is among others, a transnational knowledge transfer on best practices, tips on energy management and on the implementation of an energy efficiency plan and benchmarks.
